Hygienic Laboratory
The Oakdale Research Park and Campus are separately owned land areas; however, use is being blended into one cohesive campus with similar purposes. The Campus began as a State tuberculosis hospital. In the 1940s the University began to use it as a research campus and today this campus and its adjacent research park host a growing collection of research-related facilities and functions.
The Research Campus is experiencing significant and important changes that will develop this zone into a more campus-like area. The main entrance to the Oakdale Campus will be flanked by a new state Hygienic Laboratory building and BioVentures, a new research company incubator. This area will undergo higher-density development that will also preserve and maintain its natural wooded setting.
