Recycling Successes

Recycling success Student leaders of the UI Environmental Coalition (UIEC) started the semester off "green" by volunteering their time to prepare new plastics collection recycling bins for distribution on campus.  The co-presidents of UIEC, Stephanie Enloe and Eric Holthaus, along with members Rachel Nathanson and Tim Knab, spent much of Friday, August 22 applying "Recycle Plastics" labels to the new bins. They helped deliver the bins to UI Hospitals and Clinics, Main Library, and Area 1 Maintenance for distribution in Pentacrest buildings. The Main Library program starts with the first day of classes and includes collection bins for plastic beverage containers at main corridors, Shambaugh Auditorium, study areas and ITCs.  FM's Duane Lown, Facilities Coordinator, and Gary Grout, the Library Building Coordinator, worked together to set up the program.
