Daum Paper Contest
Brent Pelton, Lindsay McConnell, Lauren Adams, and Mark Hernberg organized a paper weighing contest between four floors in Daum to raise awareness of recycling, and to help the earth out.
Educational bulletin boards were posted on each of their floors, and for one week RA’s collected paper from their residents.
The paper was weighed and amounted to over 2,000 lbs. of paper. It took two full truck loads to get all of the paper to City Carton.
The students who participated were then treated to a pizza party, and the winning floor got a mystery surprise. The students in the photos helped load the truck and take the paper to City Carton to be recycled. Over 120 Daum residents participated in the collection of the paper.
Funding for the project came from Residence Life and Associated Residence Hall floor funds. A UI Housing truck was used to deliver the paper to City Carton.
