CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGERS

The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management, Planning, Design & Construction, is seeking two experienced Construction Project Managers to m anage the successful completion of a group of major University capital projects, ensuring that all assigned projects are completed on schedule, within budget and in compliance with contractually defined scope and campus quality standards. Duties include: Facilitate the successful design of projects by providing construction expertise for the project team; Lead on-site construction activities associated with general contractors, subcontractors, specialty contractors, and suppliers; Provide active budget and schedule management of projects through final close out; Provide effective communication and coordination with and between project participants to ensure reliable planning information; Provide expert advice, consultation and education for the project team and customers; Provide specialized services during the design phase of the project including constructability analysis, value engineering, budget cost estimating, schedule determination, determination of liquidated damages, drawing review, manage the commissioning plan, and preparation of the special conditions defining conduct of the work.

The Planning, Design & Construction division is one of four within Facilities Management, which is responsible for the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings, campus grounds, and utility systems on the University of Iowa Campus.

Required qualifications: A Master’s degree (additional years of related experience may be substituted for degree requirement) in engineering, construction technology, architecture or a related field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience; Extensive (5-7 years) experience in construction management or construction supervision; Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work environment; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions/judgments; Demonstrated leadership ability; Strong customer service orientation.

Desired qualifications: Experience with a professional construction management firm or equivalent delivery processes; proficient in computer skills and experience with cost estimating.

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, including an excellent benefit package. Salary range (based on education and experience): min-$50,554 through max-$98,464. Benefits include 24 days paid vacation each year, plus additional paid sick leave and more.
