LANDSCAPE SERVICES - OUR MISSION
The mission of The University of Iowa Landscape Services is to provide a physical environment that promotes University excellence by maintaining and enhancing the campus landscape, keeping the campus clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The University of Iowa campus comprises:
- over 1,900 acres
- 160 acres of maintained turf
- 23 miles of roads and drives
- 34 miles of sidewalks and bike paths
- 28,590 trees and shrubs of 548 different varieties.
Landscape Services accomplishes its mission through a professional crew who are responsible for:
- turf development and maintenance
- tree and shrub planting and care
- annual and perennial flower bed installation and maintenance
- site furniture placement and maintenance (benches, signs, trash receptacles, ash urns, etc.)
- litter and waste control and removal
- sidewalk care and maintenance
- snow and ice removal
- landscape planning and design
- landscape construction
