On January 1, 2008, Operations and Maintenance and Landscape Services merged to create Building & Landscape Services.

This new unit within Facilities Management is dedicated to building maintenance, custodial service, and landscape services.

Building and Landscape Services (B&LS) provides operational and technical support for daily building operations and maintenance, and landscape services including:

• building mechanical and electrical systems
• energy efficient operation
• ADA
• fire/life safety and code compliance
• repair and replacement of building infrastructure and envelope components
• proper preventive maintenance practices
• daily custodial services including classroom, office, restroom, research lab, and public space cleaning
• trash and recycle collection and removal
• routine and major floor care projects; and relamping
• mowing
• tree care
• litter control
• sidewalk maintenance
• shrub & flower bed care
• institutional road maintenance
• refuse collection
• campus lighting
• campus exterior signs 

Building and Landscape Services (B&LS) leads and manages maintenance engineering services, customer service center (Work Control), key shop services, building electronic access and security services, pest management, and moving services. B&LS also provides central shop services including the carpenter shop, sheetmetal shop, and paint shop.

All questions or requests for services pertaining to Building & Landscape Services of academic buildings, of administrative support buildings, and of the campus should be referred to the Work Control Center.
