Kinnick Stadium and Paul W. Brechler Press Box Renovate North Stands

Project Description

In conjunction with the Athletics Facilities Master Plan, the North Stands area of Kinnick Stadium has been identified as a structure in need of renovation.  The 30-year old structure has become obsolete by modern-day standards as stadiums facilities have evolved greatly in recent years.   This project will identify the best opportunities to modernize the north stands.  Improvements include:

  • Address fixed seating issues
  • Suites and other grouped seating options
  • Improved concourse amenities
  • Co-located public restaurant and retail space opportunities
  • Increased Audio/Visual technology throughout
  • Common spaces with modern amenities such as plazas and patios,
  • Modernization of restroom facilities,
  • Updated food-service/vending options,
  • Shared resource opportunities for non-game day events/programs
  • Improved accessibility for fans.

Kinnick Stadium, built in 1929, underwent a major renovation including the new South End Zone and Press Box, ten years ago.  The North stands remain unchanged from the original 1980s construction with the exception of the video/scoreboard that was added in 2013.
